Freshman midfielder notches 9 points to lead Richmond to two Conference victories
Richmond's freshman midfielder, Caitlin Fifield, receives the WomensLax.com Rookie of the Week after she scored 4 goals in two consecutive games over the weekend to lead the Spiders to their first two victories of 2009 over conference opponents, St. Bonaventure and Duquesne. The Spiders began A-10 Conference play against St. Bonaventure and Fifield led the squad with 4 goals, 6 draw controls and 2 caused turnovers. The freshman continued her impressive offensive contribution with 4 goals and an assist in the Spiders' overtime victory over Duquesne on Sunday. Fifield also notched 3 ground balls, 2 draw controls and 2 caused turnovers in the victory. Fifield, a member of the 2009 Canadian National Team and a high school All-American, hails from North Babylon, NY. The Spiders (2-9) will look to continue their winning ways in a third-straight conference game when they battle UMASS on Friday afternoon.
