Freshman’s Career Day leads Syracuse past Georgetown in the NCAA First Round

Syracuse’s freshman midfielder, Tegan Brown, receives her first WomensLax.com Rookie of the Week honor, after an impressive performance in this past weekend’s NCAA First Round. The Orange faced a very familiar foe in Georgetown but Brown’s career-high 7 points (5g, 2a) ensured that the result would deviate from Syracuse’s previous two losses at the hands of the Hoyas. Brown added 2 ground balls and 4 draw controls and factored in nearly half of Syracuse’s 15 goals in the15-8 victory. A native of Perth, Australia and a member of the Australian National Team, Brown has made an immediate impact at Syracuse, playing in all 20 games and recording 53 points on the season thus far. Syracuse will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive season and will face 5th-seeded James Madison who advanced with a 9-8 victory over Stanford.
